This is a civilian supervisory position within the Support Services Division of the Police Department that reports to an assigned police lieutenant supervisor. This position is responsible for managing the daily operations and supervising all assigned Support Services Technicians and the Police Quartermaster in the division. The position is a sensitive position and subject to random drug tests.

This is a civilian supervisory position within the Support Services Division of the Police Department that reports to an assigned police lieutenant supervisor. This position is responsible for managing the daily operations and supervising all assigned Support Services Technicians and the Police Quartermaster in the division. The position is a sensitive position and subject to random drug tests.
- Maintains a deep understanding and capability of the Support Service Technician’s and Police Quartermaster’s essential job functions.
- Supervises all Support Service Technician’s and Police Quartermaster’s day-to-day job tasks and performance.
- Maintains and records timecards, attendance, and time information on all Support Services Technicians and the Police Quartermaster.
- Performs personnel management functions including employee scheduling (vacations, sick leave adjustments, etc.) interviews, disciplinary actions, annual and work test evaluations.
- Provides for the training of new Support Services Technicians and Police Quartermasters and monitors progress.
- Responds to unit-specific complaints (internal and external) to ensure professional customer service and transparency is maintained.
- Oversees the release, sharing, or sale of property and evidence to the public and courts to ensure the department remains within compliance of Georgia law and departmental policy.
- Oversees the uniform and equipment inventory of the department to ensure proper accountability for stored and issued items, appropriate disposal of items when needed, and remaining compliant with departmental policy.
- Maintains control and integrity of all items of evidence and property housed by the department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university (Bachelor’s degree preferred.) A combination of education and experience may be accepted.
- Must have at least three years related clerical, administrative, or supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of personnel regulations and current legal practices and ability to effectively supervise clerical employees.
- Ability to learn and enforce all city and department policies and procedures.
- Ability to use a PC and MS Office Suite software, including Word, Excel, Outlook and others, to enter and retrieve data, and compose written reports/documents.
- Ability to learn all functions and operations in the Property/Evidence sections.
- Ability to learn all functions and operations of the Police Quartermaster.
- Ability to interact with people in a courteous and effective manner.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Subject to random credit and criminal background checks.
- Must submit to random drug screen if requested.
- Ability to learn court procedures.
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws and ordinances in the disposition of firearms and evidence/property.
- Ability to become GCIC certified within one year of hire. Must maintain GCIC certification requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
